In order to improve the service life of the carbide drawing die, the following points should be paid attention to during the selection and use:

1. Reasonable selection of mold brand

According to the physical and mechanical properties of the material and the size of the material, the mold brand shall be reasonably selected. For example, YG6 or YG8 is selected in the case of reinforcement, non-ferrous metal wire or bar with tensile diameter less than 20mm; YG8 is selected for 20-50mm; Select YG11 and YG15 for more than 50mm.

Before wire drawing, the surface of wire rod should be properly cleaned, otherwise it is easy to reduce the service life of the die, and also easy to produce scratches on the wire rod, affecting the surface quality.

4. Select the correct lubricant

Only high-quality lubricants, such as wire drawing powder, can improve the service life of the drawing die.

5. Lubrication protection

The service life of the drawing die can be improved only by properly cooling the hard alloy die and lubricating the working area, especially the high-speed drawing die.

6. Choose a reasonable compression ratio

The reasonable compression ratio shall be selected according to the size and performance of the drawn material. The selection of compression ratio is too small, resulting in high production cost; If the compression ratio is too large, the service life of the die will be reduced, even the die will burst.

7. Pay attention to control the surface condition of metal materials

In the process of drawing, if it is found that metal particles are adhered to the inner hole of the mold, which causes scratches on the metal surface, the machine should be stopped immediately to remove the adhered metal particles and polish the inner hole of the mold. The metal particles adhered to the inner hole shall be carefully cleaned after each use.

8. Regularly check the mold

Check the mold regularly to find the metal particles adhered to the inner hole in time.

9. Keep the mold properly

Take good care of the wire drawing die, and apply anti-rust oil for protection if it is not used temporarily.
